1. C4G - Jacob's Ladder Short Summary: We are working for a private school focused on helping kids with learning disabilities such as Autism. We are working to convert their typical workflows into a digital system, allowing for easy tracking and reporting on each of their students. We have been developing a web-based Drupal system to keep track of different goals and achievement behaviors for each child. Bin There: An Initiative with the GT Office of Recycling Bin There is an app that allows students to engage with recycling outside of the act itself. By tagging and giving every recycling bin on campus a unique id and rewarding players for finding and "tagging" these bins, Bin There is trying to increase overall awareness of bins in general and hopefully instilling a more recycling-oriented mind in its users. Mission Columbia Resource Tracking System The Mission Columbia System is a web-based system whose goal is to alleviate chronic homelessness in the state of South Carolina and beyond. It accomplishes this, first of all, by helping Mission Columbia -- a South Carolina-based charitable organization that assists homeless individuals in Columbia -- better keep track of its clients, volunteers and resources. In addition, it helps coordinate the resource-giving of a variety of other similar, charitable organizations in the area, thus providing an integrated approach towards tackling the problem of homelessness. Atlanta Afterschool Metrics Tracker The aim of the project is to develop a web portal where the Atlanta Mayor's office can track individual and cumulative student data for their Afterschool Program. The tool has options for uploading data through excel sheets that are derived from an already existing database. It displays metrics in the form of bar, line and pie charts. C4G BLIS The C4G Basic Laboratory Information System provides laboratory management software to establishments that have, for years, been using pen-and-paper solutions to solve record-keeping and results tracking problems. By giving these laboratories a robust, customizable system, C4G BLIS aims to drastically improve the reliability and turnaround time of these records and results. Marcus Autism Center Resource Outreach Overhaul Description: Consists of the creation of a visual representation of the remodeled resource center to be utilized for visioning, fundraising, and blueprinting. Also, the creation of a "Prescription of Resources" to be utilized by clinicians to aid, streamline, and standardize communication of external and internal resources to families after their visit to the center. Meenasha Reyes, Taylor Stout, Gregory Abowd Ami Klin, Elizabeth Marvel, Cheryl Rhodes(Marcus Autism Center). 7. Campus Crime Heatmap This team developed a web-accessible heatmap of crimes on Georgia Tech's campus in order to increase the awareness among students of campus safety issues. Their hope is to enable students using this app to make more informed decisions regarding their personal safety. Michael Tomczak, George Tinkersley, Xinyan Yan, Gregory Abowd GT Police 8. Homelessness Vulnerability Tracking System (HVTS) The HVTS has been developed for the Street to Home program by the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta. It stores and reports data of homeless clients in Metropolitan Atlanta based on vulnerability index. The vulnerability index calculation and report generation are both configurable by the end-user of the system. Robert Harrison, John Nakano, Nikhil Rabindra, Santosh Vempala Protip Biswas, Tim Henning (United Way) 9. Indian National Autism Registry This registry is an initiative by Action for Autism, a non profit organization in India, that aims to collect information about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder in India and information about their families. Students working on this project developed a system that allows the targeted families to take the required surveys online and provides administrators from AFA the ability to configure these surveys and use the information collected. Nate Barish, Sneha Bharath, Urvashi Goverdhan, Santosh Vempala Tamara Daley (Westat), Nidhi Singhal (AFA) 10. Title: Tracking Developmental Milestones Through a Mobile Application with CDC’s LTSAE Program The CDC’s “Learn the Signs. Act Early” program aims to improve early identification of developmental disabilities in young children. To help increase awareness and identification among caregivers, our team has created an Android application that serves as a milestone tracker. Through the app, parents or caregivers can create profiles for individual children and track if the child is meeting expected social, language, cognitive, and physical developmental milestones at corresponding ages. Stephen Gadd, Priya Kurani, David Munoz, Masar Sakr, Rosa Arriaga, Gregory Abowd Cathy Rice (CDC). 11. Foster Care Relocation A child’s world is about two square blocks – community and belonging are the most critical factors which contribute to a healthy childhood. The foster care project strives to mitigate the transition into a foster home by preserving the community by locating foster homes within the same school district and in the best case, the same neighborhood. Rui Feng, Xize Li, Megha Sandesh, Val Peterson, Gregory Abowd Temika Murray (Dekalb CAC), Aarti Sharma (CASA) 12. Social Prompter Abstract: Children with autism are often facing developmental problems. These problems can cause them to forget how to behave and cope with common social situations. The goal of this project is to provide a portable and personal teacher that the children can go to for guidance that helps them through different social situations. This is provided in the form of relevant messages along with the image of something that comforts them. Anshul Bhatnagar, Jinghui Wang, Gregory Abowd Jeannie Bolstridge (Sensory Friendly Learning) 13. C4G Vein-to-Vein: An open source blood safety management system Vein-to-Vein is an end-to-end solution designed to manage all information pertaining to blood donations, blood inventory, testing of blood, transfusion requests and its usage in hospitals and clinics. It is aimed for deployment in low income countries of Africa with limited access to the Internet. In addition to providing a robust and reliable solution for data management and an intuitive UI, Vein-to-Vein also provides customization options to the extent possible to cater to the different needs of various labs. The product is currently being tested by labs in Africa and is set to be rolled out very soon for day-to-day use. In the future, V2V plans to provide an SMS based interface for clinics to make requests to blood centers for issuing inventory, and for a transparent and fair way to allocate available blood.
