Assignment 1
Due: January 26, 1998

For this assignment, you should teach a classmate to play a new (to them) game and then write an approximately 5 page, double-spaced paper about the game.

In the paper you should:

  • Explain the game and the genre(s) that it fits into.
  • Compare this game to other games in its genre.
  • Why do people play this game? What makes it fun?
  • How was computer technology (e.g. graphics, AI, animation) used to make this game more fun? Did the lack of or excessive use of technology ever hurt the playability of the game?
  • What did your classmate think of the game? Did he/she enjoy learning the game? How long did it take your trainee to get good enough at the game to have fun? What aspects of the game did your classmate find easy to learn or confusing?

    Grading: This assignment is worth 25% of your final grade with 5% based on grammar and writing style.
