Itania Augmented Reality Eyewear Collection

This commercial was created for a DVFX2000 (Digital Video & Special FX) project at Georgia Tech.

Brief Storyline

Two college guys are enjoying an afternoon studying in a coffee shop when a debate begins about the virtue of getting the newest and fastest augmented reality sunglasses as soon as they're released. The arrival of an amazingly attractive female helps demonstrate why getting information faster can definitely be important!

The Effect

The effect used in this production uses multiple cameras focussed on an object/area. A program I coded interpolates between synchronized frames from the various cameras to produce/simulate a high quality digital zoom. The screenshot above is the effect combined with a very fudged version of "the Matrix effect" (view morphing). More technical details can be found here.

The Key People

Damie Bartley - This video also allowed me to showcase the amazing beauty of my friend Damie.

Andy Yang - Another friend and the man lucky enough to be the object of Damie's affection.

Larry Cheng - A friend and group partner in producing this film as our resident audio mixing assistant, lunch-getter, and playing the role of "the loser" wearing yesterday's gear.

Nezir Teke - Creator of all of the on-screen display effects and editing assistant. Also without his amazing computing hardware in the comfort of his apartment, we would have had to spend a lot of time doing the work in the computing lab.

Scott Carter - The man behind the idea for this commercial. Also the coder of the interpolation effect. Other roles included: directing, video editing, and cameraman.

FYI: The original script called for Damie also wearing a pair of glasses and using them on Andy (and possibly) Larry, but time constraints for shooting prohibited both scenarios...sorry ladies.
