From the Dean's Desk – April 22, 2020

Dear GT Computing Community,

Georgia Tech Dean of Computing Charles Isbell

Today is Wednesday. It’s the middle of the week, and there is, as always, some kind of news or deadline to share.

I’d like to take advantage of this Wednesday to do something else, however, because today is Administrative Professionals Day. I’d like very much to personally thank all of the administrative staff in the college. You already know you do a vital job during the best of times, and that you have gone above and beyond to keep us up and running during this global crisis. It has not gone unnoticed and it has not gone unappreciated. I couldn't be prouder or more thankful.

Speaking of things we all know, I know many of you are into the Atlanta Jazz Festival, an annual celebration of the music, culture, and art of jazz. It usually begins in April and culminates Memorial Day weekend with an outdoor festival in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park, featuring jazz artists from all over the world. For those of you missing your normal jazz-festness, you may be happy to know that New Orleans’ WWOZ radio station has decided to broadcast its entire annual jazz festival online. One day you can tell your great grandchildren that you Jazz-Fested in Place. I plan on it.

We’ll return to our normal updates, deadlines, and other information tomorrow. For now, have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday, and please join me in showing your appreciation for our wonderful admins. Thank you, again!
