From the Dean's Desk - April 29, 2020

Dear GT Computing Colleagues,

Georgia Tech Dean of Computing Charles Isbell

I am happy to continue our celebration of our CoC Awards winners, and I am delighted to ask you to join in.

Today I’d like to talk about our undergraduates. Siwei (Bob) Li won our Outstanding Graduate Research Award, and Jacob Meyers has won our Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award. Nick Worthington won our Outstanding Senior Award, and Mahima Chander won for Outstanding Junior and EDS Rising Senior. Prerna Ravi is our Oustanding Sophomore, and Omar Shaikh is our Outstanding Freshman.

Our student winners are always impressive, but this year’s winners have done truly outstanding work. Please join me in congratulating them for their achievements.

Speaking of undergraduate excellence, our own Mary Hudachek-Buswell was awarded the Institute’s 2020 Undergraduate Educator Award. Caroline Kish won the Institute’s 2020 Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, marking the third year in a row that the award has gone to a Computing major.

Finally, because information is also worth celebrating, I’d like to remind everyone that the Institute is holding a Town Hall for instructional faculty tomorrow, March 30, from noon to 1 pm. You may submit questions ahead of time to, and view the town hall here. The event will offer updates on our academic enterprise and preparations for the summer semester, so I very much encourage our instructional faculty to take part.

Stay safe.
