From the Dean's Desk - Aug. 25, 2020

Dear GT Computing colleagues,

Georgia Tech Dean of Computing Charles Isbell

I know you have all seen the news about students who have recently tested positive for Covid. This news is not a happy development, but it is far better that we know about them so we can take measures to contain the spread of the virus.

To that end, I would like to once again encourage everyone who is on campus regularly this fall to make testing part of your weekly routine, and to download NOVID, the Institute’s official Covid contact tracing app. We are apart, but we need each other to do the right thing in order to keep us all safe.

I’d also like to remind everyone that there are two events coming up. The first is our quarterly staff meeting, scheduled for this Thursday, August 27, from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. I plan to stop by. Please keep an eye on your e-mail for the link to the event.

The second event, for those of you who are into research, is the Institute’s research town hall coming up on  Friday, Sept. 4, at 1 p.m. The panelists for that event include Chaouki Abdallah, executive vice president for research and Rob Butera, vice president for research development and operations, as well as other interesting folk.

That’s all I have for this rainy day. Take care of yourselves and each other.
