From the Dean's Desk - Dec. 15, 2020

Dear GT Computing community,

Georgia Tech Dean of Computing Charles Isbell

We have a short academic week with grades having been turned in yesterday (and emails begging for grade changes probably only happening through today and tomorrow), so we also have a short dispatch.

First, we held our Dean’s New Graduate Alumni Ceremony for our graduate students last night, and I’m still happy to see another group of students getting out. I am sure we are proud of them now, and I am sure they will make us even prouder in the years to come. Although the virtual event was very nice, I look forward to the day when we can celebrate together in person.

On a second and somewhat more mundane note, the Institute has released an updated Hybrid Teaching Guide for spring 2021. If you’re planning to teach a hybrid course, please check it out for the latest wisdom on how to manage the challenge.

Have a good rest of the week, and hang in there. We’ve done well in a difficult time and we’ve done it together. I know we are looking forward to the world changing again in the spring, and I feel confident that we can handle the challenge together.

Stay safe.

Peace.
