From the Dean's Desk - June 16, 2020

Dear GT Computing colleagues,

As you know, the College of Computing (along with the rest of the Institute) has a small number of faculty and staff returning to research labs this week. This week is only the first of three phases in the plans to return faculty and staff to campus, or at least as many as can return safely.

We will have a lot of details to sort out for the next two phases. Some of those details have been and will be determined at the level of the Institute or even the USG. But some will be specific to the College’s functions and facilities and will need to be decided within the College. There are a number of operational issues that will need to be coordinated and thought through during this time. Although each of us will play a part in this process, I’ve asked a small group to work together with Chairs and with you so we stay on top of all the details necessary for our safety:

  • David White, Assistant Dean of Academic Operations and Administration
  • Alan Katz, Assistant Dean of Finance and Operations
  • Marcus Johnson, Director of Human Capital
  • Tonya Peoples, Director of Facilities
  • Ann Claycombe, Director of Communications

One of their first jobs is to set up a mechanism to gather questions from faculty and staff. Please start thinking about your questions.  We will need perspectives from every corner of the College to make things work.

Stay safe.

Peace.
