Dear GT Computing colleagues,

Welcome to first day of the summer, at least according to the academic calendar! As you recall from Friday, I’ll be sending out these messages a little less frequently during the summer; however, I will definitely keep you up to date and send any extra messages I need to in order to keep y’all up to date.
These e-mails won’t be our only means of communication, of course. We are working on another town hall for next week, this one focused on faculty. Please keep an eye on your e-mail: we would like for faculty to submit questions ahead of time. We will also obviously share the time and the login information once we have that nailed down.
In addition, the plan is to have a more casual online get-together a week or so after that so that we can chat and celebrate the end of the academic year. This more relaxed event will be open to all faculty and staff in the college. We will also be having our regular quarterly staff meeting from 10:30 am – noon on May 29.
Before I go, I would like to celebrate Armando Gonzales, a graduating Computer Science major who was just revealed as one of the faces behind Buzz. Armando has taken a job in software engineering at Disney. For those of you who don’t know, we normally discover who a Buzz is only at commencement: whenever a Buzz gets out, s/he wears the Buzz sneakers while crossing the stage. We haven’t had commencement yet for Spring, but hopefully he’ll be able to come back and retire his shoes.
Peace and soul; stay safe.
Peace.
