From the Dean's Desk – May 26, 2020

Dear GT Computing colleagues,

Good day, and I hope you had a restful long weekend. If you did then perhaps you did not notice until fairly recently the e-mail that was sent out Friday night laying out some specifics of the Institute’s proposed budget cuts. That e-mail mentioned cuts at a fairly high level, but also specifically mentioned furloughs and that the Institute will likely take losses to existing positions.

The Institute is important to us all, but I am sure you have questions about what this means within the College.  We, of course, worked hard to find ways to protect our community in the face of the state’s proposed cuts, and we continue to do so. I know you have questions, so please bring them (or submit them in advance) to our Faculty Town Hall on Thursday or our quarterly staff meeting on Friday (I’ll be there). We will talk them through as best we can.

Hopefully, I’ll see you Thursday or Friday. Until then, stay safe.
Peace.
