From the Dean's Desk - Nov. 25, 2020

Dear GT Computing community,

Georgia Tech dean of Computing Charles Isbell

Well, we’ve made it to the Thanksgiving holiday, and beyond the last day of instruction for class for Fall 2020 (only 20 more months and we’ll be out of 2020!). I am proud of our work this fall, and I am thankful for quite a lot.

I am thankful to the efforts of the faculty, staff and students who designed and ran a Covid testing program that actually allowed the Institute to keep infections under control. I am thankful to our facilities staff for instituting and maintaining new protocols for disinfecting our buildings. And I am thankful to all of you for wearing your masks, socially distancing, and more generally doing the right thing, as well as for all of the work we’ve gotten done in a globally difficult time.

Finally, I am thankful for this wonderful community we have built together, and for all the people in it. Have a relaxing Thanksgiving: you’ve more than earned it. Meanwhile, I’ll be taking a nap and stretching for all the food tomorrow.

Peace.
