The following is an open letter to OPIRG: In the entryway of the first floor of King, there is a sign that states "OPIRG RECYCLING VOLUNTEERS". This opens the question of what these volunteers are being recycled into. We the undersigned, feel that the Oberlin community has a right to know exactly what these volunteers are being recycled into. Sure, this recycling program may use fewer volunteers, but what is the impact on the environment? Also what percentage of the volunteers recycled are actually used in consumer products and what percentage is just thrown away becuase of a lack of demand? We don't mean to cause OPIRG any more problems than they are already having with the referendum and all, but we feel that the Oberlin Community has a right to know. We insist that OPIRG release all available information on its practices concerning recycling of volunteers and all of the impacts thereof. Sincerely, Joe Bayes Brian Postow Cormac Russell Dave Storrs Flagg Matt Heitz Kevin Munoz FOO (FOO of Oberlin)
