A few Fridays ago, the Public Design Workshop (PDW) led a Design and Policy Jam with the Westside Atlanta Land Trust (WALT) Program. WALT's mission is “to organize the community's power for self-determination; to serve and preserve in-place residents, small business owners, and their successive generations in redeveloping areas.” The jam session supported this mission by tasking participants with researching and producing an argument for a city-wide community land trust (CLT) policy.
Emotional labor (EL) is the process of managing one's feelings and outward expression in accordance with organizationally defined rules. Three types of emotional labor have been identified and can be stratified based on the display of emotion and the internal emotional state. In this study we interviewed Uber drivers to investigate their performance of emotional labor in the context of the positive affect that they are required to show and the role technology plays in their performance.
Indoor navigation has always been a difficult problem to crack due to the weakness of GPS signals indoor and loss of orientation references such as the sun, signature buildings, and landmarks. TSRB is a multi-functional building located in the heart of tech square, where lots of seminars, labs, networking events and classes are held. Not only do lots of new students and faculties come to TSRB when a new semester begins, but many visitors also come over frequently. Many of them encountered navigation difficulties when they first entered the building.
