Using a sample of 32 million Reddit posts, we characterize the removal explanations that are provided to Redditors, and link them to measures of subsequent user behaviors—including future post submissions and future post removals.
Parents' engagement in their children's education is key to children's academic success and social development. For many parents in the U.S., engagement is still a struggle partly due to a lack of communication and community-building tools that support the broader ecology of parenting, or parental ecology. Although current technologies have the potential to create opportunities to improve parental engagement, little is known about the impact of existing technology's design onthe parental ecology.
This project aims to reduce the barriers present in grandchild-grandparent communication by developing a messaging tool which encourages users to exchange tidbits from each of their lives, cultures, and generations. Additionally, this tool can be used by users who are hard of hearing or who have a language barrier.
