Professional esports athletes compete under tremendous pressure that has significant impacts on their physical, cognitive, emotional, and mental health. However, little is known for how to support this specific kind of demographic, which trends young and where its players often find themselves far from home working in a language they might not be comfortable with. Students in this team study how mobile health tools can mitigate these impacts and empower users through a co-design process with players and the staff that support them.
Information visualization can augment human cognition in many ways, and has proved useful in professional application areas such as scientific visualization and business management. But what are the potentials of information visualization in everyday life? Using ambient visualization techniques, the opportunity to co-exist with an embodiment of data in the same physical space, and analyze such a metaphor in relation to the space around us could potentially lead to a greater learning environment.
Spiritual care is an important aspect of palliative care. Yet, there are few educational tools to prepare nurses and doctors for conversations about their patients' spirituality. With the intention of being used as part of a larger education program- this chatbot simulates patient responses to help the user practice these often delicate conversations. The chatbot's responses were created using social media data mined from online support groups.
