Solution to The Case of the Stolen Teddy Bear

The teddy bear in question

Lloyd gave himself away. He said that he couldn't have killed Bugs because he didn't have a "6.5mm Mannlicher-Carcano rifle." But Encyclopedia never said that Bugs had been shot. He only said that he had been murdered. Remember?

When Encyclopedia confronted Lloyd with this information, Lloyd had to admit that he had killed Bugs and taken the teddy bear. He had no choice but to give Betsy her bear back. Encyclopedia and Sally took their well-earned pay and treated themselves to a game of Pac-Man.
