T. Govindaraj

Associate Professor,
Industrial and Systems Engineering

T. Govindaraj is with the Center for Human-Machine Systems Research in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He received his Bachelor of Technology and M.S. degrees in aeronautical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, in 1971 and 1973. In the U.S., he received his Master's degree at MIT in aeronautics and astronautics in 1977, and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1979. He has been at Georgia Tech since 1982, after spending three years on the faculty of the School of Industrial Engineering at Purdue. His research focuses on human-centered automation and supervisory control in technologically complex environments. Dr. Govindaraj studies human-machine computer interacti on, with the goal of developing computer-based systems to assist the human operator. The domains of interest include aerospace systems, manufacturing systems, computer and communication networks, steam power plants, and health care delivery systems. His current areas of interest include: computers, automation and manufacturing systems, simulation and programming environments, human-machine/computer interaction, interactive learning environments for science and engineering education, and intelligent computer aided instruction.
