Primary Computing Platform
- Bye, bye UNIX - hello PCs! These year and a half interval data points clearly show the
migration of the Web from research institutions (which tended to run a lot of UNIX boxes)
to the corporate and general computing populations. The 'Other' category here includes
Apple's line of computer products, which composed roughly 25% of the user population in the
latest survey. This number is much higher than industry reports due primarily to the large
number of educational Web users, where Apple has stronger market share.
