Cybersecurity startups CrowdStrike and Pindrop Security -- born out of student reseach or led by Georgia Tech alumni -- are among a dozen companies nationwide that each have raised $100 million or more in funding since 2014, according to Dow Jones VentureSource.
Pindrop Security is an anti-fraud and authentication system for call centers that was conceived by CEO Vijay Balasubramaniyan while a Georgia Tech student, working closely with professors Mustaque Ahamad and Patrick Traynor. CrowdStrike was co-founded by Dmitri Alperovitch who earned his master's in Information Security degree at Georgia Tech. He is chief technology officer of the company today.
CSO Online describes these two companies as among 12 that are "best positioned" to capitalize on growth of the $75-billion global cybersecurity market.
