Biography

Amanda Girard is the Computer Science Junior Design Capstone Course Coordinator. In her role, she co-teaches and coordinates an interdisciplinary client based curriculum with the Division of Computing Instruction (DCI) and the Department and the Writing and Communications Program (WCP). The curriculum focuses on workplace practice common to Computer Science, such as agile development and user based design. The students work in teams to produce a Minimal Viable Product for an external client, who initially proposed a project idea, and culminates with a public facing expo. Previously a Postdoctoral Marion Brittain Fellow in the Writing and Communications Program at Georgia Tech, Amanda earned her PhD in Rhetoric, Theory, and Culture from Michigan Technological University; MA in English, Colorado State University; and BA in Communication, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
