Maribeth Gandy is a Research Scientist II with IMTC. She began working at the lab as an undergraduate in computer engineering and continued on as a graduate research assistant while completing her Masters degree in computer science in 1999. Maribeth's interests include Augmented Reality (AR), wearable and ubiquitous computing, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), computer vision, and computer audio. She has worked on projects ranging from gesture recognition, to software for use during brain surgery, to a virtual reality simulation of vaudeville performances. She is also directing the education and training efforts for the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Mobile Wireless Technology for Persons with Disabilities, and is co-directing the studies on user needs analysis and cognitive prosthetics in the Center. Currently, she is also a PhD student in the College of Computing researching the application of HCI to the AR domain.
