Rick is a recent graduate of the M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction program. He is returning to academia after completing a 20 year career in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer.
He is currently working with Blair MacIntyre on an augmented reality system to support the integration of virtual and constructive simulation with physical-world training exercises. The goal of Rick’s work is to allow soldiers in several geographically separated loations to conduct distributed training exercises to optimize available training resources and allow soldiers in the physical world to "see" and interact with events in the virtual world. He will specifically focus on Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) using the McKenna MOUT training facility at Fort Benning (Columbus) Georgia.
Rick is also working in the Human Systems Engineering Branch of Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). He has worked on several projects including a cockpit display redesign for the Royal Australian Navy, an Information Processing study for the Army Research Institute, and a Guardrail Delineation project for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
