We have reported our initial effort on developing wrapper technology for semi-automatic generation of wrappers and for sharing wrappers among developers and users. The main contribution of this paper has two-fold. First, we have identified the basic functionality of a wrapper and separated the desirable functionality from undesirable functionality of wrappers. Second, we have developed a metadata repository for sharing wrappers and a set of mechanisms that facilitate the wrapper developers to contribute the wrappers and the wrapper users to download and report errors of wrappers. We believe that our wrapper repository proposal and our initial development effort are important steps towards improving wrapper technology and establishing a wrapper community where interesting methods and techniques for building wrappers can be developed, enhanced and shared.
