How to View the High

PERMANENT EXHIBITS
"Multiple Choices" and "Compare & Contrast" are the predominant themes of the Museum and those are the main guidelines that should be used while viewing the different exhibits.

The Museum's permanent exhibits are organized thematically rather than by traditional categories. The ideal way to view the different items in these exhibits is to view them as part of a theme and to compare and contrast them with the other items in that theme.   This will provide greater understanding of not only that item, but of that theme in general.

AUDIO TOUR
This new installation of the High's permanent collection will also feature a digitized random access audio tour called a Gallery Guide. Produced by Antenna Theatre, the Gallery Guide will enable visitors to listen to approximately 90 seconds of information about artworks of their choice. Ned Rifkin, director of the High, the Reverend Howard Finster, Museum curators and security officers are among those voices heard on the audio tour.

"Our hope is that visitors will be able to access the collection at a number of different points, rather than feeling compelled to adhere to a rigid sequence," said Shapiro.

The audio tour for the third floor, featuring 40 works of art, will be available in mid-April. An additional 40 works of art will be featured on the second floor, where the audio tour will be available in mid-July. Support for the audio tour is provided by Mr. and Mrs. John Treacy Beyer.
