Child’s Chair
Birch, natural finish

and Ray Eames (1913-1983)
Manufactured by Evans Products,
Venice, California, 1945-47

Purchase with funds from the
Decorative Arts Endowment, 1995.189

This child’s chair, made of molded plywood,
was available in bright red, yellow, and blue,
and in natural birch. The heart-shaped hole
in the back of the chair was designed to
accommodate two fingers so that a toddler
could easily move it. The chair was adapted
from an adult model.
