Mother and Child, 1980 (Restoration of base, 1995)
Paint on concrete, rocks, television set,
brick and cement

Purchase with funds from the Cousins Foundation, Inc.,
and donors to the Paradise Project Campaign, 1994.262.209

This sculpture was once located in a secluded area
of Paradise Garden. The mother's body is built over
a television set, which displays a painted portrait
of the artist. The piece was originally intended
to include a tape recording with the sounds of the
woman's voice, which visitors could play by turning
the television knobs.

Mother and Child was orginally
displayed in Paradise Garden.
