At the end of forty days of rain that caused the
Great Flood, Noah released birds three times.
Here, we see him on his ark, releasing the dove
that would return with an olive branch, a sign
of dry land. Bearden powerfully evokes the drama
of this Old Testament story of loss and salvation..
