NEW!!!
August 20, 2001 -- The web page is revised.
August 17, 2001 -- LAM MPI 6.5.4 is deployed for RedHat 7.1
The new version of LAM fixes several incompatibilities discovered in the upgrade of the clusters to RedHat 7.1. It also adds several new useful capabilities; refer to the LAM-MPI web page for further information.
- March 6, 2001 -- IHPCL converts beetle cluster to
linux.
Due to both research needs and user requests, the
beetle cluster is changing from being a Solaris 7 environment to a
linux environment. This will enable users to run the same executables
on both beetle and jedi without recompiling, as well as allowing us to
bring up a second network card for each of the beetle machines. A
small cluster of 4 machines, called the quark cluster, will remain
under Solaris 7 for comparison purposes.
- September 25, 2000 -- IHPCL unveils new web format!
- August 18, 2000 -- Cover of Science generated using IHPCL resources!
The cover for the August 18th issue of Science was
generated using povray on the Jedi cluster. The ray-traced image is
composed of several thousand individual spheres, and took only a few
minutes to render at magazine print quality.
- June 27, 2000 -- IHPCL contributes to solution of nug30!
The MetaNEOS group at Argonne National Laboratory announces that
they have successfully solved the nug30 optimization problem, which
has been open for more than 30 years. Jeff Linderoth, a former Tech
student in ISYE and IHPCL user, involved IHPCL in the process. In the
end, IHPCL machines made the third-largest contribution of resources.
