AAAI-98 Robot Exhibition Call for Participation

July 26-30, 1998, Madison, Wisconsin

Sponsored by the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI).

Co-Chairs: Tucker Balch and Karen Haigh

Mission Statement

The mission of the Robot Exhibition is to showcase current research in robotics that does not fit into the competition tasks. We welcome robot demos (scheduled or continuous), robot-oriented software demos, posters with or without robots present, and videos. You are welcome to participate in the exhibition as well as the competition(s).

We hope to attract robots of all kinds. We would like to expose the AI community to as much variety as possible. We encourage outdoor robots such as helicopters and autonomous vehicles, and all forms of indoor robots including snakes, manipulators, and bipeds. Robots that interact with crowds are also encouraged. If it proves impossible to send your actual robot, please submit a video or a poster. Feel free to send a video as well as a robot!

Depending on the needs of exhibitors for specific demonstrations we will provide:
  • two roped-in areas for indoor demonstrations.
  • a park area for outdoor demonstrations.
  • a surface meeting the size requirements of the RoboCup small robot league.
  • a surface meeting the size requirements of the RoboCup medium robot league.
  • two or more machines with network connections for remote demos.
  • a large-screen TV for software demonstrations.
  • a large-screen TV for a video loop.
  • a poster display area.
  • If your space requirements have not been listed, feel free to contact us; we will try to accomodate.

Small travel grants for (non-commercial) exhibitors may be available.

Commercial exhibitors are encouraged to contribute to the student travel fund. Contact the organizers for more information.

If think you would like to participate, please register your interest. Exhibitors who register early will be given the greatest consideration, but we will do our best to accomodate late submissions as well.
