Faculty Research Profiles

Format:	12 pt font, double spaced
Length:	Two to three pages

Pick a faculty member in the program in Human-Centered Computing at Georgia Tech. Add this person's name to the class wiki on T-Square. Please try to pick someone that no one else has picked. You will do this assignment two times. Some repeats will be allowed, especially on the second time.

Read at least three papers by that faculty member. Use Google Scholar to find his/her most cited papers. Choose a highly cited paper for at least one of your three. Read abstracts of at least three more papers. Include all these papers as your bibliography.

Speaking to the faculty member is optional--please be considerate of his/her time. If you do choose to make an appointment to see them or attend advertised office hours, make sure you have read the papers and abstracts before you meet.

Write a short portrait of this researcher in which you answer these questions:

• What is this person best known for? Explain the work and its significance.
• What discipline(s) was the faculty member trained in?
  Consult his/her CV for information. It should be posted online.
• What research methods does this faculty member typically use?
• What key questions/themes does this faculty member focus his/her work on?
• Has the focus of this person's research changed from early to more recent work? Where applicable, explain.

Presentation

Prepare a presentation of your findings for the class. It should be no longer than ten minutes long. Slides (powerpoint, keynote, etc.) are optional. Bring copies of your paper for the whole class.
