CS 8803 Mobile Manipulation (’18)


This Fall, Frank Dellaert will be returning to Georgia Tech and will offer a new version of a Henrik Christensen and Mike Stilman's special topics course on mobile manipulation.

In a nutshell, the objective is to learn the basics for a system that includes

- Localization / Navigation

- Object Recognition / Visual Servoing

- Arm Control including force based control for compliant learning of actions

- Joint Platform - Arm Control

- Systems integration using ROS

The course will feature lectures on kinematics, control, localization, vision (recognition/servoing), and systems integration. The majority of the course is focused on project work for

design of an operational system. The final design is to be demonstrated and reported in a conference style manuscript.

A strong background in programming is helpful. The class is open to both graduate students and senior undergraduates, but for the latter having taken 3630 is a pre-requisite.
