Group Project: Paper Submission

Numbers

Due: April 7, 2008 23:59:59 EST

There will be no late assignments accepted. None. Not one, not even if it is only a minute late. I am not kidding.

Please have one of your group members submit this assignment via tsquare. Please include the names of everyone in your group in the body of the email message. You may send text or pdf. The document must be a pdf.

The assignment is worth 5% of your final grade (or 20% of your project grade). More importantly, if you don't do it you will have violated what amounts to the biggest requirement of the project and you will suffer greatly for it.

Why?

In some sense, the whole point of this class was to give you an opportunity to explore a machine learning research project. This is your chance to explain all that you've done. Given that, we take this assignment very seriously, as should you. Of course, if you haven't up to this point, it is already much too late, but you should try anyway.

What to turn in

You must submit a pdf of your paper. This is the paper that will be reviewed. It should be considered the final paper, not a draft. Although you will have an opportunity to make changes based upon the reviewers' notes, it is expected that these will be more-or-less minor. If they aren't then the paper was basically rejected wasn't it?

Here, we will define gt to be the gt account of one of your group members. It doesn't matter which one but this will be considered your submission number and cannot change later. Submit the paper with the name gt.pdf. The file must be a pdf file and must be in the NIPS 2005 format. This includes the NIPS style, abstract, page count, references. In short you are answering the NIPS 2005 Call for Papers and turning in a conference paper for consideration.

It is well worth your time to read the next section in the Group Project page outlining the final package. There is advice there about the paper and how you should write it.
