Solid modeling has led to an industry that has managed to automate legacy engineering design, analysis, and manufacturing processes. We have benefited enormously from these advances: the quality of products has increased, products are safer and more efficient, and the time to market has decreased dramatically. However, it's now time to move on and start investigating the needs for emerging design environments, engineering processes, and new materials. The purpose of this panel is to discuss some of these ideas and investigate support they would require from the solid and physical modeling community.
