I'd like to send something on either Cyberguide or C2000 (or even
CyberNag) to a conference like this.

IUI'97: 1997 International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces
Hilton at Walt Disney World Village
Orlando, Florida - January 6-9 1997

http://sigart.acm.org/iui97

Sponsored by ACM SIGART and SIGCHI.
In cooperation with AAAI and the British HCI Group

The 1997 IUI meeting is the third on a series of gatherings of the intelligent
interface community. Started in 1988 in Monterey, California, it moved to
Orlando, Florida in 1993 for what it turned out to be a very successful event.
The series will now become a biennial conference starting in 1997 and will
provide a much needed forum for outstanding scientific and industrial output
on intelligent interfaces.

SCOPE
Original papers and panels addressing theory, system development, or
evaluation issues are solicited. We seek papers, panels, and demonstrations
that address human-computer interaction or artificial
intelligence/computational perspectives on (but not limited to) the following
topics:

***** Interface-building tools and techniques, including model-based user
interfaces, knowledge-based and user modeling techniques for intelligent
interface design, etc.

***** Intelligent front-ends to interactive, multimedia, hypermedia, or
knowledge-based systems.

***** Adaptive and customizable systems.

***** Intelligent agents and agent-based interaction.

***** Requirements and architectures for intelligent, cooperative, multimodal,
and distributed interfaces.

***** Methods for analyzing, designing and evaluating users' needs and
performance, intelligent interfaces and systems.

***** Application-specific designs: intelligent user interfaces for tutoring
and advisory systems, medical informatics, planning and explanation,
information retrieval, computer-supported cooperative work, decision support,
etc.

SUBMISSIONS
Papers are solicited for either presentations as talks or posters. Authors are
encouraged to submit work-in-progress to the poster session while longer
papers should highlight both the general scientific contribution of the
research and its practical significance.

Panels are solicited that would provide controversial or stimulating debate on
any of the topics relevant to the meeting. The positions to be taken by the
panelists and the structure of the panel should be clearly specified.

Papers for submission must be formatted using the CHI paper format. Long
papers (to be presented as a talk) are limited to 8 pages. Short papers (to be
presented as interactive poster presentations or demonstrations) and panels
are limited to 4 pages.

IMPORTANT DATES
Submissions: July 1, 1996
Review notification: September 1, 1996
Final submissions: October 15, 1996

Please send submissions to Program Chair
