Students notes are finally up!

Everyone,

First off, I want to sincerely apologize about the mixup today with the
notes. Gregory was right, I should have been using the demo directory to
test things out in. I will do that in the future. It was an oversight on
my part, I had forgotten about the linked slides when I moved the
directory. I guess I thought I had fixed everything before I went to
dinner this evening. I fixed everything, and the notes are back to
normal. If I screwed up anyone who was looking at the pages, I apologize.

I have completed the new version of C2KMakeNew which now can create
student pages. In order to do this, I had to create two new scripts:
MoveFiles and C2KMakeStudents. These scripts do the following:

MoveFiles: Used by the TA to load slides into their respective
directories. The cool thing about this script is that I made it so all
the TA has to type in is whether the notes are lecturer or student notes
and the top directory to copy them to. It will then parse the directories
and all the students notes to the correct directories. This eliminates
many past steps. I will show Valerie and Dale how to use this script
tomorrow.

C2KMakeStudents: Used to create student pages. Parses each student
directory and calls C2KMakeNew each time it enters the directory. This
allows all the students directories to be updated at once with the new
pages or links. It is also smart enough to tell if the student took notes
or not.

I have throughly tested and debugged (I hope!) the scripts as much as I
can. I went ahead (I hope that is okay) and ran the scripts for all the
students. Now the students all have up to date pages. It seems to work
exactly like how Mikiya set up 10.10.96.

I have already noticed some errors though with the log files that were
given to me. It seems that they are outputing the last slide first.
Also, some of the slides do not have links because the log file had none
for them! I was under the assumption (I may be wrong about this) that
everytime a page was visited, a link was created. For example, in the
10.31.96 log file, there are 25 gif files. Yet the log file states only
18 were visited. When you pull up the page though, there is annotation on
slides 19-25, which means they were visited. I am not sure why the
logfiles say this. Anyway, I will bring this up at tomorrows meeting.

Please visit the updated pages when you can.

See everyone tomorrow,

Paul
