Chris Simpkins has a shared appointment as a Research Scientist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute and College of Computing, and is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science under Dr. Charles Isbell. Mr. Simpkins completed his Master of Science in Computer Science in 2004 specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Understanding, and Information Retrieval. A 1990 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Mr. Simpkins's background includes teaching, flying, and software engineering. During his 12 years of professional software engineering experience, Mr. Simpkins has built and delivered more than a half-dozen successful enterprise-scale production systems, for most of which he was the chief architect or a lead software engineer. Mr. Simpkins has been a key player on over 25 research proposals, including 13 for which he was a lead or co-Principal Investigator.

Personal

I have two wonderful kids, a magnificent German Shepherd, and two delightful cats. In addition to computer science, I enjoy chess, martial arts, mountain biking, scuba diving, I'm an assistant coach for my son's junior wrestling team, and I'm a professionally-trained Hip Hop dancer.
