[Installing CQ] [Using CQ]
- Q: I noticed that you use a web server in your software. I
already have a webserver installed on my machine, can I use it instead?
A: That option is not supported now. In a future release we will
have configuration options to allow you to use your current web server.
- Q: Why do you need the administrative account/password for SQL Server?
A: We need to set up a database for the CQ meta information and another
database to install sample data into. In a future release we will allow you to
specify an already existing database and user account.
- Q: How can I uninstall the CQ System?
A: Read the uninstall documentation
- Q: How long will I receive emails for the demo CQ's that I installed?
A: The demo CQ's will stop sending email after about an hour: they were
specifically designed to send several updates and then stop.
- Q: How can I monitor my own data?
A: Any tables that are added into the sample database will automatically
be monitored. The next release will allow you to monitor remote data sources.
- Q: How do I install a CQ?
A: Run the CQ client software. This provides a GUI for specifying
new CQ's and viewing current CQ's.
- Q: How can I make a plain query to the data monitored by the CQ system?
A: The CQ client software contains an interface for just specifying
queries as well as continual queries. From the main page in the CQClient, click the
"Query" button.
- Q: Arg! I am getting email notifications every minute. How
can I change my CQ?
A: You cannot change a CQ. You have to delete the CQ and
reinstall it if you want to make any modifications. There is a link in the notification
mail that will let you delete the CQ. Also, you can browse your installed CQ's
(again, from the client software), and select CQ's that you want to delete.
- Q: Can I use the CQ client to access a CQ server if I am behind a
firewall?
A: Yes. The CQ client supports proxies. You must edit the
cqclient.ini file in the CQClient directory if you want to set the proxy
configuration. This is a very simple process: you only need to uncomment two lines,
and insert your proxy settings.
- Q: Can I use the CQ client from another machine than the CQ engine is
installed on?
A: Yes. Just edit the cqclient.ini file and replace all the
occurrences of localhost with the host name of the computer that the CQ engine is
installed on.
