The Origins of "PyroDude"

HomePage - Navigator
Hey Sherman, set the way back machine to 1984...

As I've said previously, PyroDude is really a handle. It started many moons ago; Sometime around the 6th or 7th grade. It was then that I discovered modems. I had control over the blazing speed of a 1200 baud modem on my Apple ][e. It wasn't soon later that I discovered BBSing.

Well, on most BBS's you had to choose a handle. Although I've changed quite a bit since then, and no longer consider myself a real pyromaniac... well, what can I say, I was in 7th grade, and thought I was one. But I had to make it cool too. So "PyroDude" was born. Since then I've gone through many handles for a variety of reasons, but PyroDude has always stuck for a number of reasons. (One being my Zippo has "PyroDude" engraved on it.)

Now don't get me wrong, I still dabble in the arts of pyrotechnics, but the distinction now is that I consider it an art or a skill. Before it was just kids setting things on fire. In all honesty I can't say I've done all that much... but then again, I have built a (semi-working) flame-thrower, made black powder, and accidentally tear-gased my house... not to mention had my arm on fire up to the elbow... so I still feel I can hang on to my handle without much opposition.

...end of the history lesson.
