Mitchel Horton
Research Scientist II

Thirty-years of experience as an advanced application developer; a Ph.D. in Computer Science; and postdoctoral work both with Jack Dongarra’s Innovative Computing Laboratory (ICL), and with the Keeneland Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Proficient in thirty-nine different programming languages ranging from assembly language to C, CUDA, and OpenACC. Experienced in advanced application development in problem domains ranging from corporate website development to mechanical computer aided engineering, and computational science. Received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Tennessee in 2010 and went on to accelerate applied numerical linear algebra algorithms for both multicore and GPGPUs at ICL. Currently an advanced application developer responsible for accelerating computational science on the Keeneland high performance computing heterogeneous GPU cluster at ORNL.
