If you are outside of CoC, you can use something like rsync to mirror the
/usr/local/happening/ directory and run the happening
script there as long as your system has Tcl/Tk installed.
Optional:
You might want to put
/usr/local/public/bin/happening &
in your X Window start up files to let the communication-bar start up
automatically every time you log in. Unfortunately, there is no standard way of
doing this in Unix. You can try editing ~/.xinitrc* and
~/.xsessionrc* files. If you use CDE, you can save your CDE session
while the communication-bar is running, or add it to the
~/.dt/sessions/sessionetc file. On a SGI, try the
~/.sgisession file.
You might want to disable client decorations for the ``What's
Happening'' main window. Different window managers have different ways
of doing this. As an example, in the Solaris CDE environment, I put
Dtwm*Happening.clientDecoration: border
in my X resources file (remember to do a xrdb and restart the
workspace manager). On a SGI, the X resource is
4Dwm*Happening.clientDecoration: border
A neat trick for advanced CDE users: I don't like some of the controls in
the front-panel so I replaced them with my own and let the front-panel
swallow the ``What's Happening'' main window:
