Disclaimer and A Word of Caution

The ``What's Happening?'' tools described here inevitably have bugs and are potentially limited in feature and content. Sometimes when improvements are made, you may need to restart the program (or re-fetch the package) in order to get the updates and continue using the tool. Please bear with us as we make these improvements, and be assured that we are going to use every resource available to make the tools better. Please send your help requests, bug reports, and suggestions to me.

The tools are programmed in Tcl/Tk and its source code is publicly available (it is copyright-protected, though). In addition, one of the design focuses is convenience of use, and for this reason, we've decided not to implement any user authentication procedure. Adding these two things together, there is a potential security threat: someone can modify the source code and impersonate someone else and publish falsified and/or objectionable material. To protect the innocent, our ``What's Happening?'' server logs the time, date, and host information of all user postings (but it does not record the contents of the postings). Please report any questionable activity to me so we can find who the little rascal really is.
