Long time interest in theoretical computer science, algorithms, complexity theory, artificial intelligence planning. More recent interests in deliberate innovation and behavioral economics.
I teach courses in algorithms and in innovation and startups. My focus is on both the academic and practical content of the subjects, and the importance of the subjects, as I understand them, to help students to succeed and flourish as the university's emissaries when they leave us.
"The Heart of Innovation: A Field Guide for Navigating to Authentic Demand", Berrett-Koehler Press & Penguin Random House (translated into Japanese and Chinese).
I am one of the three founding faculty members responsible for the creation of The Inventure Prize; that started at GT and is now spread to more than 10k high school students in Georgia, and to all the ACC schools. I received the GT Award for Outstanding Achievement in Research Innovation for Flashpoint@GT.
