About this Program:

The undergraduate program will be 6 weeks, with 4 weeks of instruction in Atlanta and 2 weeks in Mumbai. The program will partner with ATLAS SkillTech University to enable a rich learning experience during the Mumbai portion. Overall, the program offers foundational Georgia Tech computing courses that will expose students to culturally situated approaches to equitable innovation, design, and integration of technology to connect courses to the local context of Mumbai.

NOTE: This is an embedded course program. An Embedded Program is an Atlanta-based course that includes a travel component. The majority of the class takes place in Atlanta.

Students must be registered for this course for the semester and have an application in Atlas in order to participate in this study abroad component of the course.

Application information

The program will accept approximately 25 students this summer, and applications will be reviewed in the order they are received, so we recommend applying early to ensure a spot! The application link is HERE.

Applications are considered complete when a student has submitted the application and deposit through Atlas, Georgia Tech’s online application portal for education abroad programs. The program’s full policy on cancellations and refunds can be viewed on the program’s application page in Atlas.

Courses

Take 2 courses taught in English by Georgia Tech CS faculty and Program Director, Naveena Karusala:

CS 4001 – Computing & Society (Ethics Credit) - Students will critically examine how issues around technology, such as globalization, bias, privacy, and others, affect people worldwide.

CS 3751 – Intro to User Interface Design - Students will explore culturally situated approaches to design and, through the course project, create an inventive design artifact.

More information about the courses:

  • The courses offered through this program are open to all majors and are taught in English by Georgia Tech faculty for GT resident credit.
  • The 6-week classes will be held on campus in Atlanta for the first 4 weeks and then completed in Mumbai for the final 2 weeks.
  • Students will receive information on how to register for the two permit-only courses once they are accepted.
