
CS at Georgia Tech Moves Forward in Latest Nationwide Undergraduate Rankings
Georgia Tech has advanced two spots in the latest national ranking of undergraduate computer science (CS) programs.
Up from No. 7 last year, the 2026 U.S. News Best Colleges rankings place Georgia Tech's CS program at No. 5 in the country.

Georgia Tech’s undergraduate CS program has ranked in the top 10 since computer science and related specialties were first included in the U.S. News and World Report undergraduate rankings in 2020.

Georgia Tech also ranked highly for undergraduate programs in CS-related specialties. Artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity held steady at No. 5 and No. 2, respectively. Mobile web development moved up one ranking to No. 1 in the country.
“This milestone is a testament to the dedication and excellence of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and it reflects the incredible community we’ve built together," said Vivek Sarkar, John P. Imlay Jr. Dean of Computing at Georgia Tech.
"We are also proud to now stand alongside our colleagues in Georgia Tech’s consistently top-ranked engineering programs.”
The 2026 U.S. News Best Colleges rankings also listed Georgia Tech as:
Computer systems: No. 7
Data analytics: No. 5
Programming languages: No. 10
Software engineering: No. 3
Theory: No. 10
Georgia Tech is tied with Carnegie Mellon University and Stanford University for No. 1 in mobile app development.
The upward movement in the latest rankings comes as CS remains the most popular major at Georgia Tech. For the 2024–2025 academic year, Georgia Tech enrolled approximately 4,000 first-year students. Collectively, 23% of all incoming students on campus are studying a computing-related major.
Overall, Georgia Tech secured multiple No. 1 rankings and rose to No. 32 in the nation for undergraduate education.
