Strategic Partnerships

Strategic partnership models are a vital part of the College of Computing’s research enterprise. Typically, a corporation provides funding that allows our faculty and their graduate students to do fundamental research in a relevant area. Benefits include:

  • The corporation can keep its own researchers focused on projects that are more immediately profitable.
  • Our researchers can have a bigger impact if their research is adopted by a corporation.
  • Our Ph.D. students get invaluable experience and mentoring from an industry partner. About two-thirds of our Ph.D.’s go into industry, and this program builds valuable bridges.
