CRNCH Summit To Tackle Future of Computing
Georgia Tech’s Center for Research into Novel Computing Hierarchies (CRNCH) is hosting its eighth annual CRNCH Summit this week.
The 2026 summit will take place Feb. 12 and 13 in the Klaus Advanced Computing Building Atrium.
The summit, co-sponsored by the College of Computing and the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), advances CRNCH’s mission to find novel ways to compute by rethinking every level of the computing stack.
“I’m excited to welcome computing-related researchers and students to CRNCH Summit 2026 for a cross-layer conversation on what comes after traditional scaling.
“This year’s theme, Hardware/Software Co-Design or Abstraction: How Tightly Should HW and SW Be Coupled, captures a question we’re all especially focused on right now,” said Hyesoon Kim, CRNCH co-director and School of Computer Science (SCS) professor.
“As platforms and workloads move this fast, we have to decide what to prioritize and how to anticipate what comes next.”
Bronson Messer will deliver the keynote on the first day of the summit. Messer is a Distinguished Staff Scientist and Director of Science at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility (OLCF). His talk, Co-Design for Science in the Age of Industrial AI, will explore new co-design efforts across the scientific computing ecosystem.
