Institute Announcement Recognizes Faculty Achievement and Excellence
Georgia Tech has announced the latest round of faculty promotions and tenure decisions this week. The announcement includes nine College of Computing scholars whose work advances research, education, and service across computing disciplines.
In this year’s cycle, four faculty members were promoted to full professor. They are:
- Sonia Chernova from the School of Interactive Computing (IC)
- Elizabeth Cherry from the School of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE)
- Alex Endert from the School of IC
- Neha Kumar from the School of IC
Four GT Computing faculty members were awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor:
- Sehoon Ha and Christopher MacLellan from the School of Interactive Computing
- Srijan Kumar from the School of CSE
- Frank Li from the School of Cybersecurity and Privacy.
School of Computer Science Associate Professor Alberto Dainotti received tenure at the rank of associate professor.
“These promotion and tenure decisions recognize our faculty’s sustained excellence and impact in research, teaching, and service,” said Vivek Sarkar, John P. Imlay Jr. Dean of Computing.
“The milestone honors their years of scholarly achievement and mentorship that strengthen the College’s academic community and contribute to the broader field of computing.”
In an email to faculty and staff, Sarkar emphasized that these achievements are made possible through a wide network of support.
“Much of that support is invisible, especially given that the names and roles of committee members and letter-writers are confidential,” said Sarkar.
“So many thanks to all those who had a part to play in the successes we celebrate today, including our tenured faculty who served as Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure committee members, the School and College RPT committee chairs, our school chairs, and of course, Beki Grinter, our associate dean for faculty development.”
