What are Georgia Tech Computer Science classes like?

Did you know you can audit GT CS courses before your first lecture? Dive into the world of computer science through GTx, where you'll find self-paced courses crafted by Georgia Tech's College of Computing faculty. We have three asynchronous courses that match the first few introductory courses that Tech computing students take. Whether you’re looking to review or build your confidence, it's the perfect opportunity to explore our innovative curriculum on your schedule.

  • CS 1301 on edX - for students who have no prior programming experience or are interested in learning Python
  • CS 1331 on edX - for students with some introductory programming experience and are seeking to learn to write medium to large size object-oriented programs (in Java).
  • CS 1332 on edX - for students with foundational Java experience and are seeking to learn how specific data structures and algorithms can affect the performance of the programs they develop.  

How will my credits at other institutions transfer to Tech?

Can I be admitted to Tech in another major and change to CS later?

The Computer Science department is now prepared to begin accepting Change of Major applications again on a limited basis, which includes students who would like to add Computer Science as a second major.

As of April 15, 2025, the College of Computing has updated their change of major process based on semester of matriculation.
